January’s crescent moon setting over the State Capitol of Texas. This is a single-shot exposure that took a bit of planning and a lot of luck to get just right.

Planning alignment shots like this can be done using applications like Photopills to show you where the moon will rise relative to your location.
I used a 200mm lens to compress the scene and make the moon slightly larger.

The Texas State Capitol captured during a golden hour sunset in Austin. This close-up of the Capitol dome was created with multiple exposures. There was a lot of activity from the city birds during their peak feeding time that evening. I shot about 10 frames of the birds in different configurations and blended them together to create this image.
The year 2021 was a unique one for Austin. Two back-to-back snowstorms during our typically mild winter season. As powder accumulated on the ground and flakes fell from the sky, I ventured downtown to witness how the city would transform. This was shot with a telephoto lens standing a few crosswalks down from the state capitol.
A vibrant sunset casts color onto the snaking Colorado River near the Pennybacker Bridge in Austin.
The iconic suspension bridge that spans the Colorado River at sunset. Most people opt for the alternate viewpoint, but I love the east side of the view for capturing the sunset best. I used a long exposure to create these light trails from the passing traffic.
Each year in Austin, the Waller Creek show provides local artists the chance to showcase light-based designs. Admission to the creek show is free, however donations are collected to assist with the renovation of the waterway. This was my favorite installation from the 2019 show called “String Theory.”
The infamous Dirty Sixth Street captured from above. I wanted to emphasize the architecture of the historic buildings that line the road. I opted for a high-contrast image that makes the night scene pop.
This is one of my favorite images of the Austin skyline at night. I love it because of the wide-angle view which includes so much of the downtown cityscape. Frost Bank is positioned in the middle, and you can see sixth street off to the right edge of the frame.
Although very different from my current style of photography, this is one of my favorite images of downtown. The many corporate offices form a grid-like structure with their repeating lattice framework. My friend sits carefully on the edge of a rooftop, overlooking the dystopian landscape.

During the winter months, steam rises off Lady Bird Lake in Austin. I took this shot from Lou Neff Point outside of Zilker Park during a crisp December morning.
